Wheelchair AccessibleWe try hard to make The Tranquil Otter a place that wheel chair users can enjoy to the full. The site, including the perimeter path, the lake (via an electrically powered wheely boat), and the shop are all accessible. We have an electric mobility scooter which is available to residents who want to go around the lake path but cannot manage the distance on foot.

Mobility scooter available to residents

All luxury lodges are accessible with two (lodges 4 and 7) having tailor made accessible shower rooms with grab rails.

Each of the accessible lodges has parking nearby with a short path and a gentle ramp giving access to the lodge. The decking to the front of the lodge is accessible and being right at the waters edge gives superb lake views.

Luxury Lodge 3 has two accessible bedrooms ( a double and a twin). The family bathroom has an accessible shower with non slip altro flooring. There are no grab rails in this shower room however a toilet frame and shower stool can me made available by prior arrangement.

Luxury Lodge 4 has two accessible bedrooms ( a double and a twin). There is a tailor made accessible w/c and shower with non slip altro flooring. There are grab rails in this shower room and a shower stool can be made available by prior arrangement.

Luxury Lodge 5 has one bedroom which is accessible (a king sized bed). The lodge has an accessible shower with non slip altro flooring. There are no grab rails in this shower room however a toilet frame and shower stool can me made available by prior arrangement.

Luxury Lodge 7 has 2 wheel chair accessible bedrooms (both double) and a twin (not accessible), a tailor made accessible shower room with grab rails and an accessible sauna.

We have many wheel chair users visiting The Tranquil Otter and many return year after year to enjoy the lodges and their spectacular views, the wheely boat which enables wheel chair access to the lake and the accessible path around the lake.

If you have any questions about a holiday at The Tranquil Otter or if you have any special needs please let us know and we will do our best to help.

(The Retreat Health Spa will do treatments on site as a special favour to Tranquil Otter residents however this is subject to availability and requires booking well in advance so as to allow planning by The Retreat. To discuss/book you must talk to either Tina or Kate, the owners, as it is not a service that other staff will necessarily be aware of.
